If you have been a resident of this great nation Australia for the last 2 years and live in the Shire of Leonora then read on and find out how easy it is to get your Australian Citizenship pronto!
We carry out a number of private and public ceremonies throughout the year for people to receive full Australian Citizenships, on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Immigration.
To get an application form kit (1 for each person applying), you can call the Immigration Department Hotline on 131 881 and they will post them out.
Fill in the forms and get the relevant documents together. Then call the Department of Immigration (131 880) to arrange an interview at their office in West Perth. Every person applying must go to the interview (eg: the wife cannot go on behalf of the husband). The cost is approximately $120 per person.
Children 15 years and under don't apply, they are included on a parent's certificate. 16 years and over will need their own. The application form lists what documents you must take with you to the interview, which will take about 1 hour.
After several weeks, you will receive a letter from Canberra saying your application has been approved. They print the certificate in Canberra, send it to Perth and then forward it on to us.
When a date is set for the next ceremony, which is approximately every 6 weeks, we will send you an invitation stating the date and time you are to be sworn in. The ceremonies are normally held on Tuesday mornings at 10:30am and we give you about 3 weeks notice. If for some reason you cannot attend the ceremony, just let us know and we will put you in the next one.
The whole process, from when you go to your interview to the time we swear you in, is about 2-3 months. If you are in a hurry, tell them at the interview and they will try to get it done quicker.
Copies of Certificates: If you have lost your certificate and need a reprint you must call the Department of Immigration on 9261 2297. They will send you an application for a reprint and the cost is approximately $70.
