Throughout 2002 and 2003, a substantial upgrade of the central business district (CBD) was completed, resulting in a new look for Leonora. Major works included:

• brickpaving of footpaths.
• new centre pedestrian island.
• all verandas and fences will be renewed.
• all power will be underground.
• new street lights and poles erected.
• many new trees planted in strategic positions.
• new street furniture provided (seats and bins).
